From Brainstorming to Purpose: Exploring Home-Based Challenges

The first week of our journey started with an introduction to the course, where we discussed the objectives and expectations for the upcoming year.

In the second week, we were divided into our final project groups. we got to know our group members and after breaking the ice, we dove into brainstorming potential project ideas, focusing on meaningful challenges within the home domain.

We approached this brainstorming session with an open mind, exploring many possibilities before narrowing our focus.

Two key topics emerged during our discussion: "creating a home away from home" and "promoting child independence."

"Creating a home away from Home" aims to develop solutions that provide comfort, familiarity, and emotional well-being to individuals who are away from their homes for extended periods.

Our second topic, "Promoting Child Independence," focuses on empowering children to safely perform tasks independently and fostering confidence and self-reliance when their parents are away.

These themes sparked enthusiasm and creative thinking among the group, as they both address significant aspects of modern home life.

To continue building on these ideas, we were assigned to interview professionals next week to gather insights that will help us refine our direction. On the topic of "home away from home," we interviewed social workers and psychologists working with evacuated people, and children in boarding schools. On the topic of "promoting child independence", we interviewed clinical psychologists and social workers working with kids.

By consulting experts, we gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within these areas, which will ultimately guide us toward a more impactful and feasible project.
